Prior to my cancer diagnosis, my partner Meg and I had gotten into the habit of taking each other for granted. We’d commonly bicker about who had or hadn’t walked the dogs, who had or hadn’t made the bed. Something as ridiculous as an unwashed dish could lead to an entire weekend of us holding grudges instead of holding each other. For days at a time we’d forget to look up when the other walked into the room. In more than one way, we had stopped seeing each other enough to truly appreciate each other. 

When I was diagnosed all of that changed.
