"they had chosen the hardships they would have in this life" Wow, a lot to think about with this one. I'll be turning it over in my mind for a while. When I was 35 years old and trying to decide whether to have a child in this life, I very much heard my future daughter calling out to me, saying she wanted to exist. This happened most often when I was in nature. We both nearly died when she was born, but we made it through. So I very much want this to be true. And yet there are so many others who are born and life truly is much too hard and horribly unfair. So I have a hard time with this idea. I won't write it off, but it's a hard one to sit with! I love you for always cracking open the universe, Happy birthday!

After 10 years, the news of your sister's conception was a little surprising to me too. Now I know our family was unfinished up until then. I love all the little special things about each of you.
That’s what we say in German: Wie schön dass du geboren bist, wir hätten dich sonst sehr vermisst! Meaning something like: how wonderful that you were born we would have missed you terribly otherwise! Much ❤️ to you in your bday and every day! So glad you made it through that birthing channel...
