My partner, my daughter, my cat, finding/making the time to write, and being able to portray my #1 dream role in an upcoming theatrical production in January.
Also reading Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin. That definitely does not suck.
Mmm, these beautiful morsels of amazing awareness and acceptance that i am able to experience more and more these days. And having people to share these moments with. 💖
Something that doesn’t suck in my life right now is getting this email from you. I look forward to keeping up with you—your poetry has had a profound impact on my life.
Yay! I am thrilled about the move to Substack. I left Facebook more than a year ago to help with my extremely fluid sanity, and struggled with how to I help without giving The Zuck my credit card. You solved it right here, right now. This right here Does Not Suck! Perfect timing, my doesn't suck list has been pretty short recently. I can't wait to read all the past posts I missed on the free newsletter.
Things that don't suck for me right now? My daughter has decided to transfer back home from Oregon to the University of Arizona and is going to be living only a few blocks from me. (Aaaand, she's changed her major to creative writing and poetry, so double-YAY!) And my dog is sweet and cuddly. And my son cooks like a chef, making sure I'm eating well every day. And my chronic health conditions are not behaving badly so I'm enjoying my life even more.
My daughter certainly doesn't suck; as she calmly copes with whatever school and modern life throws at her 💁🏻♀️ I was bullied and was devastated back in 1977; but modern days abhors bullying; and she just answers back - why didn't i think of that!? 🤔
Things that don't suck in my world... the sun is shining and it's a beautiful day here in Joshua Tree. My beloved and I are healthy and aging graciously together. We both celebrated birthdays in the last 10 days. We both survived the covid years, and although a few friends and family got it, we didn't lose anyone to it. We have a home that we love, plenty of good food, warmth, friends, family... life is very good to us. Oh, and the election went much better than we had hoped! :D Thank you, Andrea, for sharing your world with us. Lots of love and light to you dearheart. <3
Things that don’t suck: I just got a solo stove at a REI garage sale & it’s been my new fav thing to sit by the fire at night w/ my girlfriend in our new backyard (which happens to always have a perfect view of the moon) also it’s winter which means I get to nerd out over snow and splitting fire wood. Also realizing my life now is a complete juxtaposition to what it was 2 years ago and I’m so incredibly Grateful aka growth sucks bc it’s uncomfortable but doesn’t suck bc the reward is so so high
There is nothing like splitting fire wood in the snow to make me feel like I'm really living my best life! What is it that makes it so alluring? I always feel wonderful after.
Yay to a new newsletter home! I have a space heater and a crunchy granny smith apple at 3:56 pm on the first snowy day at the drafty, delightful museum where I work. Creature comforts are <3
Walking in a forest on sunny autumn days where I can feel the sun's warmth on my face and the smell of pine trees... ahhh, that definitely doesn't suck!
Last week I found one of those poetry refrigerator magnet sets for $2 at a thrift store, and now people who live in my building and share the kitchen are bonding over the goofy, dirty, and occasionally lovely poems we create on the fridge. It's brought a lot of joy into a house full of strangers.

Congrats on the dream role! yay!
Thank you so much!! 🥰
Wearing a cheesy tshirt that says Love Triangle and has a picture of a pizza and other thrift store gems
I woke up not feeling like hot garbage, that doesn’t suck!
I know this feeling so well. :)
Making time to just doodle during a conference call today.

Watching my dog nap in the sunshine; very "nonsuckable".
Isn't a miracle how they always find the perfect sunbeam to rest in????

I was just a couple of days ago wishing I was in Joshua Tree, hiking around all that beauty. What a wonderful place to live. So happy you are here.
